It Happened in Windham
by Haley Pal
The Windham Historical Society will be hosting High Tea at High Noon, a fundraiser in honor of our late secretary Karen Lougee on May 31 at Noon at the Little Meetinghouse in North Windham. The historic hall will be beautifully decorated with Karen’s favorite flowers, lilacs, and other spring blossoms and all the finery of a traditional Victorian High Tea.
The menu will consist of a selection of sweet and savory favorites including quiche, tea sandwiches, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, scones, muffins and a lovely assortment of delicate desserts. A variety of teas will also be served.
While guests are enjoying the lunchtime fare, Ray Marcotte and Elle Kanner of Teafarers.com will do a presentation with a brief history of tea and they will also discuss details about some of the teas being offered.
The cost to attend is $25 per person and all proceeds will be used to make repairs to the Windham Center Library. Karen was Steward of the Library and her commitment to historic detail and extensive research are evident when you visit the building today. We hope you can join us as we remember this special member of our organization. For more information, contact event coordinator Haley Pal at either 892-7139 or email Haley at haleypal@aol.com.
